A Survey Is Coming From GM — Temecula Valley Buick GMC
Temecula Valley Buick GMC A Note For New Owners
Heads up

GM is going to ask how we did

A short survey from General Motors is on its way — or may already be in your inbox. Here's what it is, and how to reach us if anything still isn't right.

What's coming

The basics, so it isn't a surprise

From
General Motors — not from our dealership. It arrives by email, sometimes by text.
When
Usually within about ten days of your purchase. It may already be sitting in your inbox.
About
Your purchase experience and your new vehicle.
Length
A few minutes. Most of it is multiple choice, with room to write if you want to.
Who sees it
GM collects the responses and shares results back with us, including written comments. We read them.
Required?
No. It's entirely your call whether to answer, and nothing about your vehicle, warranty, or coverage depends on it.
Before it lands

Is anything still unresolved?

Sometimes a second key never showed up. A floor mat is missing. A trim piece rattles. Paperwork got promised and never arrived. Something in the vehicle isn't behaving the way it should.

If any of that is sitting open right now, we'd rather hear it from you directly, because a survey response can't hand you a key or order a part. A phone call can.

Tell us what's outstanding

Reply to the text we sent, or use either option below. Someone at the store will get back to you the same business day.

Answer the GM survey however you see fit — that's separate, and it's yours.
Questions we get

Straight answers

Is this survey actually from you?

No. General Motors runs it. We don't write the questions, we don't send it, and we don't control when it goes out.

What we do get is the results afterward — which is why we'd rather fix a problem now than read about it in a report next month.

Do you see what I write?

Yes, generally. GM shares dealership-level results with us, and that usually includes written comments.

We're telling you that up front rather than letting you assume otherwise. Handling of your information is governed by GM's own privacy terms, which are linked in the survey itself.

Do I have to take it?

Not at all. Nothing about your warranty, your coverage, your financing, or how you're treated here changes based on whether you respond or what you say.

Something's still not right. What do I do?

Contact us. Text, call, or come by. If it's the vehicle, service will look at it. If it's paperwork or something promised at delivery, sales will chase it down.

You don't need to figure out which department. Reach either one and we'll route it.

Why are you telling me this at all?

Two reasons. First, unexpected emails asking about a big purchase look like a scam, and we'd rather you know a real one is coming.

Second, if there's an open problem, the useful time to raise it is now — while we can still do something about it.

I got an email like this. Is it legitimate?

A real GM survey will come from a General Motors address and won't ask for your Social Security number, your bank details, or a payment of any kind.

If something asks for those, it isn't from GM or from us. Forward it to us and we'll tell you what we think.

What if I have a question about the vehicle itself?

Ask us anytime, survey or no survey. Coverage questions, how a feature works, when your first service is due — that's a normal call, not an imposition.

From the two of us

We'd rather hear it early

A survey is a fine way to find out how we did. It's a slow way to fix anything.

By the time a response reaches us, weeks have gone by and you've been living with whatever the problem is that whole time. That's a bad deal for you and a worse one for us.

So if there's something open — anything — tell us now. Answer GM however you honestly want to. Those are two different things, and only one of them puts a part on order today.
