Guide to 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Trim Levels

GMC Sierra driving along a mountainous road

If you’re shopping for a new GMC Sierra 1500, you may be wondering what the trim levels mean, and which one is best suited for your needs and budget. Below, we’ll take a look at all of the Sierra 1500 trim levels to help you better understand their features.

Sierra 1500 Pro

The Pro is the entry-level trim. It is the most affordable GMC Sierra 1500 and consequently the most sparsely equipped. That said, it still has the features you need most, such as a TurboMax™ engine with 430 lb-ft of best-in-class torque, and up to 9,500 pounds of maximum towing capacity.

Sierra 1500 SLE

The Sierra 1500 SLE adds valuable tech upgrades: a 13.4-inch primary touch screen and 12.3-inch digital driver display. You don’t have to be a technophile to appreciate these features — they simply make everything easier to see and more convenient to do.

Sierra 1500 Elevation

The Elevation is a very affordable step up from the SLE that adds some visual goodies to up your curb appeal — such as 20-inch gloss-black wheels and black mesh inserts for the grille. This is a great option if you’re on a budget but don’t want to give up any visual flair.

Sierra 1500 SLT

The SLT is the lowest Sierra 1500 trim with a standard 5.3-liter V8 engine, giving you a maximum towing capacity of up to 11,200 pounds. When work starts to get serious, this is a good starting point.

Sierra 1500 AT4

The AT4 is a serious off-roading machine. It gets a standard Duramax® turbodiesel engine and 2-inch factory lift with off-road suspension and Rancho® monotube shocks. Additional equipment like a 2-speed transfer case, auto-locking rear diff, and underbody skid plate give this truck the ability to reach places other trucks simply can’t. And with a unique Jet Black interior with heated and ventilated perforated leather front seats, it’s quite comfy too.

Sierra 1500 AT4X

Building upon the AT4, the AT4X makes an art out of conquering trails. Multimatic DSSV™ dampers, paired with front and rear electronic locking differentials — an exclusive feature in this segment — ensure the AT4X can take you just about anywhere you want. It also has a front-approach boron steel skid plate for maximum protection, and a steel front bumper with a winch to rescue those unfortunate souls in lesser trucks.

Sierra 1500 Denali

You’ve probably heard of Denali. When it comes to truck luxury, the Sierra 1500 Denali is the mountain that rises above all others. Authentic open-pore wood, forge perforated leather seating, patterned aluminum trim, and a continuous damping adaptive ride control system make this truck exceptionally plush. It also gets access to Super Cruise™, one of the industry’s most advanced hands-free driving systems, which works on more than 400,000 miles of road even with a trailer in tow.

Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate

If Denali is the mountain that oversees all, then the Denali Ultimate trim is the peak of that mountain. When you’re on a trip to the best in truck luxury, this is the final stop. On top of all regular Denali features, the Denali Ultimate adds a 12-speaker Bose® surround sound system, 16-way power-adjustable seats with massaging function, and a multi-color head-up display. It also gets exclusive 22-inch wheels with seven spokes and bright chrome accents, plus a signature Denali Vader chrome grille, helping you further stand out compared to other Sierra 1500 drivers. And with the optional CarbonPro composite bed, made of material normally found in multi-million-dollar supercars, you can say goodbye to corrosion, rust, scratches, and dents forever.
